HINSDALE – Adventist St. Thomas Hospice is looking for individuals interested in working as a camp counselor for the ninth annual Tommy’s Kids Summer Camp, a children’s bereavement day camp.

While the death of a close friend or family member can be a painful and confusing time for anyone, it is especially difficult for children. Adventist St. Thomas Hospice offers support throughout the year for grieving children through a program called Tommy’s Kids Support Group.

The camp is staffed by Adventist St. Thomas Hospice staff and specially trained adult volunteers from the community. Those interested in becoming a counselor must be at least 18 years old and out of high school.

A camp counselor training session has been scheduled from 6 to 9 p.m. Jan. 29 at the Adventist St. Thomas Hospice office, 119 E. Ogden Ave. in Hinsdale. A short interview with the camp director before attending the training session is required to be eligible to attend the training.

For more information about volunteering as a camp counselor, call 630-856-6985.

Designed for children ages 5 to 12, Tommy’s Kids Summer Camp will take place daily from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. June 16 to 20, 2014, at Arabian Knights Farms, 6526 Clarendon Hills Road, Willowbrook.
