Police reports: Brookfield and Lyons for Dec. 18

BROOKFIELD

DUI

Cletus W. Garde, 30, of the 5000 block of South Na Wa Ta Avenue, Mount Prospect, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol after being pulled over for speeding at Ogden and Custer avenues at 2:43 a.m. Dec. 2. His blood-alcohol concentration was 0.258. He also was charged with driving without insurance.

Residential burglary

Refugio Gonzalez, 19, of the 2500 block of Marshall Avenue, Bellwood, and Francisco Diaz Jr., 19, of the 3800 block of Butterfield Road, Bellwood, were each charged Oct. 30 with one count of residential burglary after breaking into a residence in the 3800 block of Forest Avenue and stealing a number of items, including two guitars, a TV, computer, printer and camcorder.

Burglary to vehicle

• A pocket knife and a cup holding change were stolen from a vehicle in the 3100 block of Arthur Avenue, as reported at 9:16 p.m. Dec. 5.

• About $3 in change was stolen from a vehicle in the 3300 block of Park Avenue between 7 p.m. Dec. 7 and 8:30 a.m. Dec. 8.

• A bag of clothes and about $3 in change were stolen from a vehicle in the 3300 block of Oak Avenue between 4:30 p.m. Dec. 7 and 7 a.m. Dec. 8.

• A GPS unit and an iPod Nano were stolen from an unlocked vehicle in the 4100 block of Elm Avenue, as reported at 10:13 a.m. Dec. 8.

• A pair of sunglasses was stolen from a vehicle in the 3500 block of Oak Avenue, as reported at 11:16 a.m. Dec. 8.

• A camera was stolen from a vehicle in the 3300 block of Sunnyside Avenue between 6:30 p.m. Dec. 7 and 11:20 a.m. Dec. 8.

• Two pairs of sunglasses, a backpack and about $3 in change were stolen in the 3500 block of Oak Avenue, as reported at 11:45 a.m. Dec. 8.

• A pair of sunglasses and about $5 in cash were stolen from a vehicle in the 3500 block of Oak Avenue, as reported at 12:47 p.m. Dec. 8.

• A microscope valued at $5,000 and an iPod Nano were stolen from an unlocked vehicle in the 4500 block of Blanchan Avenue, as reported at 2:59 p.m. Dec. 8.

• A souvenir baseball bat was stolen from a vehicle in the 3500 block of Oak Avenue between noon and 4:03 p.m. Dec. 8.

• An iPod was stolen from a vehicle in the 3600 block of Madison Avenue, as reported at 4:19 p.m. Dec. 8.

• A laptop and backpack were stolen from an unlocked vehicle in the 3600 block of Madison Avenue, as reported at 4:04 p.m. Dec. 8.

Burglary

• A package of ceramic figures, power drill, saw, work light, flashlights and several bottles of beer were stolen from a garage in the 3300 block of Arthur Avenue, as reported at 9:15 a.m. Dec. 5.

• A garage was broken into in the 9500 block of Jefferson Avenue, as reported at 10:59 a.m. Dec. 5. The resident did not think anything was taken.

• A rivet gun was stolen from a garage in the 3500 block of Sunnyside Avenue, as reported at 7:13 a.m. Dec. 9.

Stolen GPS unit, speakers returned to owner

A stolen GPS unit and speakers stolen from a vehicle in the 9000 block of Monroe Avenue were found by a woman walking her dog at Oak and Monroe avenues at 8:04 a.m. Dec. 8. The items were returned to their owner.

Vehicle stolen, then returned

A vehicle left running outside a bar in the 8800 block of Burlington Avenue was stolen at 12:06 a.m. Dec. 7 but returned to the bar shortly later. The suspect parked the vehicle, got out and ran into an alley behind the bar, a witness said.

Cookies reported stolen

A woman told police several hundred cookies were stolen from the Recreation Center at 8820 Brookfield Ave. at 10:48 a.m. Dec. 7.

Gas siphoned from vehicle

About a quarter tank of gas was siphoned from a vehicle in the 3000 block of Forest Avenue, as reported at 6:27 p.m. Dec. 2.

Keys stolen from vehicle

Multiple keys were stolen from an unlocked vehicle in the 4200 block of Sunnyside Avenue between 7 p.m. Nov. 29 and 11:14 a.m. Dec. 2.

Vehicle keyed

A vehicle was keyed in the 4200 block of Elm Avenue at 2:39 p.m. Dec. 7.

House egged

A residence in the 3800 block of Madison Avenue was egged at 1:10 a.m. Dec. 8. A resident at the house said it was also egged Dec. 3.

LYONS

Retail theft

Shadi Isshac, 20, of the 3000 block of Becket Avenue, Westchester, was charged with three counts of theft under $150 after stealing a number of medications from Walgreens, 4101 S. First Ave., where he was an employee.

Theft

About $500 in coins was stolen from machines at a laundromat in the 7700 block of West 43rd Street between 4:30 p.m. Dec. 3 and 4:30 p.m. Dec. 5.
