Published: Friday, Dec. 13, 2013 1:43 p.m. CDT

GLEN ELLYN – As part of "Gratitude Month" at Glenbard West High School, students raised nearly $600 for Samaritan's Purse, which helps victims of war, poverty, natural disasters, disease and famine around the world.

West students in seven Advanced Placement (AP) Human Geography classes were challenged to raise $400 to fund a hand-dug water well. The $600 the students raised will support not only the well, but will also provide training, tools and seeds for a farmer and two sets of dairy animals that will give milk to families in need.
