Carpanzano: Don't forget to shop local this holiday season

The holiday season, from a commerce perspective, is so important.

Be sure to help us spread the word about Shopping Local, Shopping Bolingbrook, Shopping Small, and of course Shopping Chamber throughout the entire holiday season and beyond.

The Bolingbrook Area Chamber of Commerce’s primary purpose is to promote and support the growth and development of the local business community.

Without our local business owners, our local economy would be jeopardy. Local commerce is essential not only for our workforce numbers, but for the stability of essential public services and a healthy government operation.

In order to help you find local business we have a business directory located right on the homepage of our website ( Please visit our directory before you go make a purchase, go out to eat, or want to see a movie. You can even sort by category (Dining & Entertainment, Arts & Recreation, Etc.).

Shopping from local chamber members is the best way to feel confident you are supporting a business who supports your community.

The entire business community is invited to the 2014 State of the Village. This annual luncheon, being held at the Bolingbrook Golf Club on Thursday, Jan. 16, is our largest chamber event of the year.

Our keynote speaker, Mayor Roger C. Claar, will deliver an address updating us on milestones from the previous year as well as announcing any upcoming projects or initiatives the Village of Bolingbrook will undertake in the coming year. This event is open to the public, but advance registration is required as the event may sell out.

Among our nearly 600 members is a mix of commercial, retail, industrial and home-based businesses; medical, governmental and educational entities; as well as churches and nonprofit service and social organizations.

We can be reached by phone at 630-226-8420 or via email at

If you want to make sure you stay informed of upcoming events, as well as promotions and specials from local businesses, please text the word “Bolingbrook” to 22828.

Michael Carpanzano is president and CEO of the Bolingbrook Area Chamber of Commerce.
