Willowbrook senior guard Molly Krawczykowski has the Warriors undefeated and on top of the West Suburban Gold. She scored 14 points in a crucial 60-54 win at Proviso East on Saturday and followed that up by scoring all 13 of her points in the first half of a 69-24 win against Leyden on Tuesday. Willowbrook is 8-0 and hoping to win the conference title. Krawczykowski, the Oak Trust Credit Union Athlete of the Week, spoke with sports reporter Dan Santaromita about the team’s hot start.
What do you think of the team’s start to the season?
Well, our goal is to go undefeated in conference this year, so we’ve been working really hard and it’s nice to see us starting to reach our goal.
Was the win at Proviso East the biggest game so far?
Yeah. We were all nervous going into it because it was our first big game and we were down at halftime. Then we just all came together after halftime, played really hard and came back and won. It was important to us.
Who on the team has impressed you?
We have a sophomore, Danielle Velasquez, who has been working really hard. She’s impressed a lot of people. She also hustles and she’s always working hard so it’s nice to have her on the team.
Do you have any college plans yet?
I’m still undecided between basketball and track.
