Glen Ellyn electric aggregation program saves residents $800K
GLEN ELLYN – Glen Ellyn’s electric aggregation program has saved residents more than $800,000 during its first seven months, according to the village’s enewsletter.
On average, participating Glen Ellyn households have saved $98 in electric supply costs, the enewsletter said.
Those who were part of the program received a fixed electric supply rate of 4.981 cents per kilowatt-hour (kWh) with Verde Energy that was lower than the ComEd rate, which adjusts monthly, according to the enewsletter. ComEd’s rate for November was 6.005 cents per kWh, the enewsletter said.
New residents are not automatically registered in the electric aggregation program, but anyone is welcome to enroll at any time by calling Verde Energy at 800-241-0295. There is no fee to join or leave the program.
When calling, provide the ComEd account number, service address and request the Glen Ellyn fixed rate of 4.981 cents per kWh.
Before joining the program, residents are encouraged to check with their current electrical supplier to see if they will have to pay an early termination fee for making the switch.
