ELMHURST – Mayor Steve Morley addressed speculation about what will replace the Elmhurst Dominick's at 215 S. Route 83 during Monday's City Council Meeting.

"I've been getting this question a lot and I don't have an official answer," Morley said.

He referenced a media report that listed the Elmhurst location as one of seven Dominick's stores in which Whole Foods may be interested. Still, the city has not confirmed Whole Foods wants to buy the store.

Mariano's parent company, Roundy's Supermarkets Inc., announced Monday its plan to convert 11 Chicago area Dominick's locations. The Elmhurst location was not one of the stores included in the deal, according to a media report.

Despite speculation, the fate of the Route 83 Dominick's has yet to be determined. That doesn't stop everyone from asking, though.

"There's been no official confirmation of [a Whole Foods purchase], but I've been getting this call two or three times a day for the past two weeks," Morley said.
