Letter: A thank you to hard-working teachers

Published: Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2013 3:44 p.m. CDT

To the teachers of District 58:

With American Education Week upon us, I thought a note of gratitude was in order.

I have three daughters, grades first, fourth and sixth. The older two started at Fairmount and now all three are currently enrolled at Lester.

I have been to many parent/teacher conferences through the years and have always been impressed with the teachers I have met. The classrooms are always lively and engaging, and the enthusiasm and caring of the teachers is evident.

Even more impressive to me is how much the girls love school and how often they talk about it. They “love” their classes, their teachers are “awesome," “the coolest," the “best ever"; this has happened each year they have been in school. When arguments arise as to who is their favorite they cannot decide and invariably agree to make it a tie.

Though I am personally familiar with only two of the schools in District 58, I have heard similar stories from friends with kids at other schools in the district.

So thank you for your efforts, your expertise, your patience, your hard work, your diligence, and your caring. You are greatly appreciated.
