ELMHURST – The Elmhurst Chamber of Commerce and Industry will honor this year's Ambassador of the Year and Business of the Year at the Chamber's 95th Annual Awards and Talent Showcase in January.
John Zawaski, president of Dependable Business Forms, will be honored as the Ambassador of the Year for the third time. The 1996, 2000 and now 2013 recipient is the first Ambassador to be honored three times with the award.
The award is presented annually to a member of the green-coated Chamber Ambassadors for outstanding service.
Zawaski founded his promotional products company nearly 40 years ago and joined the chamber in 1985. During that time, he's served as an Ambassador for 21 years.
In addition to being a longtime member of the Noon Rotary Club of Elmhurst, Zawaski also served on the Fundraising Committee of the Elmhurst YMCA and was Nation Chief for the Indian Guides and Trailblazers.
Business of the year
The Community Bank of Elmhurst will receive the A.J. "Toche" Terrones Business of the Year Award for 2013 at the awards ceremony in January.
The inaugural recipient of the award in 1999, Community Bank of Elmhurst is the first business to be a two-time honoree.
The award, named after former chamber President A.J. "Toche" Terrones who died in 1999, recognizes a business for its contributions to the chamber's success, as well as its contribution to the business and Elmhurst communities. The chamber also considers how the business of the year has impacted its field of business, how many years it's been in business and how many years it's been a chamber member.
The bank has two locations at 330 W. Butterfield Road and 133 N. York St. Community Bank of Elmhurst sponsors and hosts both the chamber's Annual "State of Our City" Mayoral Address Membership Breakfast and Holiday Business After Hours.
