DuPage Birding Club announces December bird walks and Christmas Bird Count

The DuPage Birding Club invites the public to join its members on its December bird walks and its yearly Christmas Bird Count competition, according to a news release from the club.

The month's activities start bright and early at 8 a.m. Dec. 7 at the Waterfall Glen Forest Preserve. Participants are encouraged to meet at the corner of Bluff Road and Cass Avenue in Lemont. The trip will be led by Jeff Smith. For more information, contact Smith at mrqmagoo13@gmail.com or 331-481-3362.

On Dec. 14, the club will hold its annual Christmas Bird Count. Competitors will be assigned a team and a birding location, starting at 8:30 a.m.

To register in advance for a location in Cantigny Park, email Jeff Reiter at jreiter@wordsonbirds.com.

To be placed on a Bird Count team, email Jeff Chapman at jeffchapman1@sbcglobal.net.

Bird watchers can also participate the next day at the Lisle-Arboretum Circle Christmas Bird Count. For more information, contact Geoff Williamson at geoffrey.williamson@comcast.net or 773-935-8439.

The club will host its final watch of the year at 7:30 a.m. Dec. 28. The watch will be held at McKee Marsh in Warrenville, starting at the visitor parking lot on the north side of Mack Road.
