Westmont PVPN to perform Christmas show this weekend

WESTMONT – The Progressive Village Performance Network will present “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever” this weekend.

The performances kick off at 7 p.m. Friday at the Westmont Public Library, 428 N. Cass Ave., and continue at 3 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. Sunday at the Westmont Community Center, 75 E. Richmond St.

Westmont residents and neighboring community members will be allowed free admission to the program in exchange for a canned good, nonperishable item, toys or clothing to be donated to the People’s Resource Center.

The Best Christmas Pageant Ever – an hour long program – is about families coming together for what could be the best part of their holidays, according to Sally Cassaro, the show’s producer and PVPN Vice President.

“What amazes me [about the play] is the coming together of the community,” Cassaro said. “It’s a goosebump kind of thing.”

The Christmas comedy is based on a young adult book and shares the story of a couple struggling to coordinate a church’s Christmas program, who eventually cast five rowdy siblings in the lead.

“We hope everyone comes away with a few good laughs – it’s the best thing to watch,” Cassaro said.
