Mariano's grocery stores to open in Western Springs, Westchester

Published: Monday, Dec. 2, 2013 5:44 p.m. CDT

Mariano's grocery store will open locations in Western Springs and Westchester early next year.

The store's parent company, Milwaukee-based Roundy's, announced Monday it is buying 11 Chicago-area Dominick's stores from Safeway in a $36-million agreement. Safeway revealed earlier this year that it would close all Chicago-area Dominick's stores Dec. 28.

Mariano's new Western Springs store will be at 14 Garden Market St., and the Westchester location will be at 3020 S. Wolf Road.

Roundy's expects to finalize its acquisition of the stores by the end of the year and convert them into Mariano's in about one to two months, the company said in a release.
