Former Woodridge trainer pleads guilty to sexually abusing 16-year-old

WOODRIDGE – A former Woodridge trainer pleaded guilty Monday to sexually abusing a 16-year-old athlete in 2012, according to the DuPage County State's Attorney.

Robert Theodore, 61, of 3809 Hagen Court in Woodridge, was charged in September 2012 with having inappropriate sexual contact with a then 16-year-old boy he'd been training in track and field.

Theodore posted $250,000 bond and was released the day after he was charged. He was then ordered to wear a GPS monitoring device and have no contact with the victim or anyone under 18 years old, according to the the state's attorney's office.

Theodore pleaded guilty to one count of aggravated criminal sexual abuse, a class 2 felony that accused him of having sexual contact with the victim at the victim's home, Theodore's home and the local gym where the two trained at Lifetime Fitness in Warrenville.

Theodore's next court appearance will be Jan. 8, 2014 for the pre-sentence report.
