West Chicago encourages residents to 'shop local' with The 3/50 Project

WEST CHICAGO – Big things come in small packages in West Chicago, where the city is supporting local businesses by encouraging residents to participate in The 3/50 Project.

The 3/50 Project is a national "shop local" movement that urges shoppers to choose three local businesses and spend a combined total of $50 at all three once a month.

When residents shop local, more of their money remains in the area economy, according to a city of West Chicago news release.

The 3/50 Project doesn't discourage customers from patronizing big stores, but it encourages them to have a balanced approach to shopping.
