Riverside-based author Karen Doornebos will celebrate the release of her new book, "Undressing Mr. Darcy," at an event at the Riverside Public Library on Sunday.

RIVERSIDE – Karen Doornebos, a resident of Riverside, will celebrate the release of her new book, “Undressing Mr. Darcy,” at an event Sunday at the Riverside Public Library.

The library, at 1 Burling Road, will host Doornebos at 6 p.m. before the author’s speech at 7 p.m. The author will meet and discuss her book with attendees before the presentation.

The book, “Undressing Mr. Darcy,” tells the story of a 35-year-old social media expert named Vanessa Roberts. When her elderly aunt asks her to take on the public relations for Julian Chancellor and his book, “My Year as Mr. Darcy,” Roberts is less than thrilled, according to a new release from the publisher. Roberts has a change of heart after she views Chancellor’s educational “striptease” campaign.

At the event, the library also will be celebrating the 200th anniversary of “Pride and Prejudice” and Jane Austen’s Dec. 16 birthday. In addition to a libations and dessert table, a variety of offerings from the Holiday Market will be featured, including copies of “Undressing Mr. Darcy” and a Jane Austen Gift Basket.

Doornebos is a English literature graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a lifelong member of the Jane Austen Society of North America.
