Brookfield Holiday Walk to feature tree lighting, Santa

BROOKFIELD – This year’s Brookfield Holiday Walk will feature traditional events, including an appearance from Santa Claus and the lighting of the town Christmas tree.

The Holiday Walk will be held from noon to 6 p.m. Saturday at the Village Hall, the Brookfield train station and the village’s business districts.

Santa will arrive by horse-drawn sleigh at 1 p.m. along with winners of the Holiday Walk Scavenger Hunt at the Brookfield train station. After a meet-and-greet, children can visit with Santa from 2 to 5 p.m. at Irish Times Pub and Restaurant, 8869 Burlington Ave.

Many local businesses will be offering samples, special deals and events on Grand Boulevard and Broadway Avenue. The Brookfield Public Library, 3609 Grand Blvd., will host events throughout the day, including a Book Fiesta at 10:30 a.m. and Miss Clara’s Mini Musicians Holiday event at noon.

Many holiday events will take place at Village Hall, 8820 Brookfield Ave. The S.E. Gross Middle School Band will kick off at noon. Other events include a magic show at 2 p.m. in the Village Courtroom, cookie decorating at 1 p.m. and free face painting all day.

To cap off the day, the village’s annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony will be at 6 p.m. at Veterans Memorial Circle.
