Letter: Westchester Blood Program thanks its hundreds of blood donors

Published: Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2013 2:47 p.m. CDT

To the Editor:

It’s Thanksgiving time again, and there is no better time to thank the hundreds of area blood donors who gave the gift of life this year. Once again, the Westchester Blood Program reached its annual goal of 500 units (pints) for Chicago area hospitals.

We garnered more than enough blood to serve the needs of 1,500 patients. Our loyal, generous donors come from throughout the western suburbs – from Berwyn and Brookfield to Elgin and Lemont – to take part in our six annual drives. They deserve our thanks and the thanks of the many patients whose lives were saved or sustained.
