LA GRANGE PARK – Residents can donate items to local families in need as part of the Community Park District of La Grange Park’s Warming Tree.

Donations of hats, gloves, mittens, scarves and socks will be hung on the Warming Tree, located at the Recreation Center, 1501 Barnsdale Road. All items will be given to the La Grange Community Nurse Health Association for families in need.

The park district is also collecting food items and paper products for the St. Francis Food Pantry, which provides food to La Grange and La Grange Park residents in need. All food donations must be non-perishable. Especially welcome are paper towels, tissues, disposable diapers, pasta, pasta sauce and peanut butter.

Last year, the tree collected more than 300 items and 10 full boxes of food pantry items.

Donations will be accepted until Dec. 19 and can be dropped off from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to noon Saturday.
