After losing to Hinsdale Central 63-52 in the second place crossover game of Glenbard and Hinsdale Thanksgiving tournaments on Saturday, the Rams took on Rich South on Tuesday. Jaron Hall scored 30 points against the Stars, but the Rams lost at the buzzer, 60-58.
The Warriors went 1-3 at the Stagg tournament to start the season. Willowbrook lost to Nazareth, Stagg and St. Laurence, but picked up a 46-29 win over Lindblom.
The Lady Broncos suffered a defeat to Wheaton Warrenville South in the final of the Schaumburg tournament on Nov. 29. Freshman Kaylee Bambule was Montini's only double-figure scorer with 10 points. Kateri Stone was named the tournament MVP and Kelly Karlis joined her on the all-tournament team.
Montini got back to its winning ways with a 61-39 win at St. Edward on Wednesday in the Suburban Christian Conference opener. Stone had 21 points, Karlis scored 12 and Lea Kerstein added 11.
The two District 88 schools opened conference play on Tuesday in Addison. The Warriors won 66-26 to improve to 7-0 on the season. Senior guard Molly Krawczykowski had a game-high 19 points. AT fell to 1-5.
The Warriors' wrestling team is 6-6 entering its first conference match of the season. Willowbrook went 5-5 at the Vernon Hills Invite last weekend before wrestling at Hinsdale South tonight in a West Suburban Gold conference dual.
At the invite, the Warriors defeated Maine East, Vernon Hills, Ridgewood, Solorio Academy and Loyola, but dropped matches to Maine West, Hoffman Estates, Taft, Evanston and Glenbrook South.
Freshman Veronika Srey led the Rams to a second place finish at the Hornet Invitational on Nov. 27. Defending state champion Lyons Township won the eight-team invite and had the top two all-arounders, but Srey was third in the all-around with a score of 35.0. Senior Karen Sebby was eighth in the all-around.
The Warriors lost the first dual of the season to Downers Grove North, 131.2-118.2, on Tuesday.
