The new Lombard Police Department website, OffenderWatch, allows residents to view the addresses of registered sex offenders living in the village, to sign up for email alerts if a registered sex offender moves into their neighborhood and to find other safety tips.

LOMBARD – The Lombard Police Department last week launched a website that will allow village residents to track registered sex offenders.

"OffenderWatch" was created to allow residents to view the addresses of registered sex offenders living in the village, to sign up for email alerts if a registered sex offender moves into their neighborhood and to find other safety tips.

Overall, the website "serves as a community notification tool to manage and monitor the whereabouts of local sex offenders," according to police officials.

Residents can also send anonymous letters directly to the police department if they know of a registered sex offender living in their neighborhood who is not listed.

OffenderWatch can be found by going to the Village of Lombard website at www.villageoflombard.org and using the following navigation: About, Police Department, Sex Offender Information, Local Offender/Safety Information.

For more information, call deputy chief Roy Newton at 630-620-4483 or email him at newtonr@villageoflombard.org.
