Hinsdale Fire Department ISO rating means savings for residents

Published: Monday, Nov. 25, 2013 2:51 p.m. CDT

HINSDALE – The Hinsdale Fire Department recently maintained its Public Protection Classification and received an ISO Class 3 rating, according to a news release.

This rating puts the Hinsdale Fire Department in the top 15 percent of fire departments in the state of Illinois that receive an ISO rating, and continues to support financial savings on insurance premiums to Hinsdale residents, the release said.

Insurance Services Office (ISO) is an independent company that serves insurance companies, communities, fire departments, insurance regulators and others by providing information about risk.

ISO analyzes the relevant data and assigns a Public Protection Classification, a number from one to 10. Class 1 represents an exemplary fire suppression program and Class 10 indicates that the area’s fire suppression program does not meet ISO’s minimum criteria.
