Glen Ellyn resident to run in DuPage County Board primary

GLEN ELLYN – Glen Ellyn resident Paula McGowen will run as a challenger in the Republican primary election for the DuPage County Board District Four seat after filing her candidacy papers at 8 a.m. Monday, according to the DuPage County Election Commission.

"I want to run because I think I can make a difference with my experience as a community leader," said McGowen, who has lived in Glen Ellyn since 1980.

Throughout the years, McGowen has tried to attend as many County Board meetings as possible, she said.

McGowen arrived at the Jack T. Knuepfer Administration Building in Wheaton at 5:15 a.m., 45 minutes before the building opened. The Election Commission offices opened at 8 a.m.

As of Monday afternoon, the only other candidate who had filed for the Republican primary was current board member and Wheaton resident Grant Eckhoff, who also filed for candidacy at 8 a.m., according to the commission.

Candidate M. Moon Khan, of Lombard, filed for the Democratic primary for the District Four seat Monday afternoon, the commission said.

The primary will take place March 18. The filing period for the primary ends at 5 p.m. Dec. 2.
