Mills: Fountaindale Library readies for holiday season
The weather outside has firmly convinced us all that fall is here and, as I mentioned last month, it is my favorite season.
Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. I am with my family and friends and I could not imagine a better way to spend the day. I hope your holiday is a happy one as well.
Our extended friends – the Kiwanis Club and the POWER Connection – are working together to collect winter gear this fall. They want to make sure that the children in our community are warm this winter, and we are joining our friends in that effort by having a Mitten Tree in our library.
We will be collecting children’s hats, mittens and scarves. If you would like to donate items like this, please hang them on our mitten tree! The tree will be in our lobby from Monday, Dec. 2 through Thursday, Jan. 2.
We will also have a Lions Club collection point in our library to collect winter coats as well if you have coats to donate.
Are you still thinking about what gift to give? How about taking a class in our Studio 300 and learning to make something that could be a gift from the heart? On Thursday, Dec. 5 we have “Make Your Own Holiday Cards” so you can make that personal card for family and friends.
Do you have old family photos that have seen better days? What better gift than to make priceless family memories shine – you can learn how on Wednesday, Dec. 4 when we have “Photoshop 102- Photo Restoration.”
You may remember that earlier this year we began work on a Strategic Plan so that we can outline the future goals and direction of the library.
We have crafted a draft plan with input from our community, and the draft plan is now available for your thoughts and comments through Saturday.
Please visit our website, www.fountaindale.org, review our draft plan, and offer your ideas and suggestions through our online form. I would love to hear from you.
