WESTMONT – With thousands of people expected to be downtown Westmont this weekend, Saturday is set up to be a day all about fun, family activities and some shopping sprinkled in.
Along with the Holly Days opening ceremonies, Westmont will also be celebrating the nationwide campaign Small Business Saturday.
The idea behind Small Business Saturday is to think about shopping and dining at local merchants, according to Larry Forssberg, Executive Director with the Westmont Chamber of Commerce and Tourism Bureau.
“When you shop locally, a greater percentage of the dollars stay in the community,” Forssberg said. “And when you invest in your community, you’re investing your family.”
While Holly Days will be offering an abundance of Christmas-themed family events, the downtown businesses and restaurants will also be offering similar shopping attractions.
“People can relax, shop and have some fun. It all fits together so nicely,” Forssberg said.
Small Business Saturday sends an important message during one of the key shopping times throughout the year, he said.
“We just want to encourage folks to come out and shop, dine and discover,” Forssberg said. “It’s a wonderful Westmont experience.”
The Chamber of Commerce and Tourism Bureau will be posting online coupons throughout the week for local business and restaurants as well, he said.
