NORTH RIVERSIDE – A traffic safety grant awarded to the North Riverside Police Department will partner police with the Illinois Department of Transportation to conduct sustained traffic details in North Riverside around the Thanksgiving holiday, according to a news release.

The primary focus of the details will be directed toward impaired driving and seatbelt violations, according to the release.

This year's Thanksgiving campaign, which has already begun, will run through Dec. 1. During this time, North Riverside police will be aggressively enforcing all traffic laws and ordinances to promote a safe holiday for all drivers.

Officers will be assigned to enforcement details during peak hours when impaired diving and seatbelt violations are more likely to occur. The grant will give the department the means to dedicate the needed manpower to the enforcement details.

Residents with questions or concerns are encouraged to contact the police department at 708-447-9191.
