District 210 proposes 9 percent tax levy increase

LEMONT – The Lemont High School District 210 Board of Education passed a preliminary 2013 tax levy during its Nov. 18 meeting that would call for a 9 percent increase from the previous year.

The district will hold a public hearing on the levy during its meeting Dec. 16.

The Consumer Price Index caps the tax levy increase at 1.7 percent, but the 9 percent proposed levy would allow the district to capture up to $72 million in assessed value from new properties, according to district Business Manager Jeff Eagan.
