Glenbard West running back Scott Andrews breaks through the Harlem defense in the first round of the playoffs. Andrews and the Hilltoppers defeated Schaumburg 42-21 Saturday to advance to the Class 7A semifinals.

SCHAUMBURG – Head coach Chad Hetlet said Schaumburg would be the toughest test of the season for his Glenbard West football team.

It didn't take long for the Hilltoppers to pass the test.

West was up 14-0 after a quarter and led 35-14 entering the fourth quarter of Saturday's 42-21 win over the Saxons in a Class 7A quarterfinal game.

The Hilltoppers will face either Lake Zurich or Wheaton North in a state semifinal game next week.

Scott Andrews had 177 yards rushing and scored two touchdowns and Devonte Toney had two TDs on 98 yards rushing, but the Hilltoppers (11-1) got an early spark on offense when Drew Vogg hit Jermon Kindle-Joyner for a 48-yard passing touchdown for the first score of the game.
