No injuries after house fire in Westmont early Tuesday

WESTMONT – At about 1:52 a.m. Tuesday, the Westmont Fire Department responded to a house fire at 116 E. Naperville Road.

Firefighters located the fire in the kitchen area where flames spread quickly to the attic space, according to a news release. Departments from Oak Brook, Downers Grove and Clarendon Hills also assisted.

The homeowner and her dog exited the house safely and no injuries were reported.

The fire department said the fire's cause is being ruled as accidental in nature although the direct cause is still under investigation.

The residents of the house are staying with relatives, according to the release.
