BERWYN – Improvements were authorized for the Berwyn Police Department’s basement shooting range when the City Council met Nov 12.

Division Commander Thomas O’Halloran reported that the first two rows of safety and sound proofing baffles located near the bullet trap have deteriorated because of normal usage and need to be replaced.

O’Halloran said the department wanted to upgrade to “rifle rated” baffles in an effort to increase the level of safety provided during all training exercises. The cost of the improvements is $15,357. Installation would be completed during a regularly scheduled maintenance visit.

Georgia-based Meggitt Training Systems will complete the project as they are a sole source provider for the project.
