LA GRANGE PARK – As part of his Eagle Scout project, a local scout has placed a food donation box in the Village Hall lobby to collect food for the Northern Illinois Food Bank.

The resident, named Justin Torres, will leave the box at Village Hall through Nov. 27. Area residents can drop off non-perishable food items such as canned meals, other canned foods, peanut butter, boxed meals like macaroni and cheese, pasta and oatmeal and flour-based mixes for breads, cakes and muffins.

So far, the results have been great, according to Andrea Bagley, deputy village clerk.

"The [box] was overlfowing the other day," Bagely said. "They took it away and now it's nearly filled again."
