LA GRANGE – First-year coach Paul Krick takes over at Lyons Township and is hoping a focus on the intangibles can turn the Lions into a winner this winter.

Key graduation losses from last year’s 17-10 team means the Lions will have a lot of new faces, but LT returns a solid trio that bring experience to a young squad.

Junior guard Victoria Swift and senior Kayla Morrissey are three-year varsity players that bring shooting range to the offense. Junior point guard Gaby Galassini is also a returning varsity contributor.

“We’re going to be riding their backs,” Krick said. “We’re going to be relying on them for leadership, scoring, defense, stability, and work ethic.”

In addition to those three, sophomores Frannie Corrigan, 6-foot-1 Emily Pender and quick guard Nina Scaramella will see plenty of playing time. Krick said he expects them to compete for starting positions.

With such a young team Krick isn’t sure how they will perform, but wants a focus on improving the little things. He mentioned role acceptance and playing harder and smarter as things that will determine how much the players improve this season.

“It’s really important to me that each member of the team feels that they’re contributing,” Krick said. “For us to get our program to where it needs to be we’re really going to have to develop an attitude, an edge and a hunger to get better. That’s what I’m trying to do.”
