WOODRIDGE – Two people escaped unharmed from a fire in a two-story, four-unit multifamily home in Woodridge Monday afternoon.

The Lisle-Woodridge Fire District responded to the fire, at 13-16 Bittersweet Court, around 12:42 p.m. Monday.

The building was deemed uninhabitable after fire crews – with help from neighboring departments – extinguished the fire, according to a press release.

The fire district said two minor injuries to firefighters were reported during the incident.

The fire district said the fire was controlled about 40 minutes after engines arrived but because of a gas leak the fire continued to burn until crews secured the leak.

The fire's cause is still being investigated by the Lisle-Woodridge Fire District fire investigation team.
