Local man charged in Villa Park shooting

VILLA PARK – Villa Park police Saturday night arrested a local man sought in a shooting incident that occurred earlier this month, according to a release from the department.

Keenan N. Barnes, 20, of Villa Park was charged with aggravated discharge of a firearm, aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and possession of marijuana when he was arrested at 9 p.m. Nov. 9. after police stopped the vehicle he was riding in.

Barnes was reportedly identified by witnesses as the gunman in a shooting that happened at about 2:16 a.m. Nov. 2 in the 100 block of Division Street. The victim, a 24-year-old male, was transported to the hospital with a gunshot wound to the abdomen. He is expected to recover from his injuries, police said.
