Glenbard West girls cross country team takes top honors at state

The Glenbard West girls cross country team took first place honors at this year's 3A state meet, according to the Illinois High School Association.

In a dominating performance, the team had four finishers in the top 20, led by senior Madeline Perez's third place finish. Junior Lisa Luczak (seventh) and sophomores Lindsay Graham (14) and Grace Rogers (16) also placed highly. The team's point total, 75, was nearly 40 points lower than second-place Naperville North and almost 100 points lower than third-place New Trier's 173.

Schaumburg (seventh), Geneva (eighth), Downers Grove South (ninth) and Neuqua Valley (10th) also showed well.

Hinsdale Central's Alexa Haff just missed out on first place with a final time of 16:45 and Elly DeTurris of Naperville North checked in in 10th.
