CAROL STREAM – After a month-long investigation, a Carol Stream man is charged with six child pornography felony charges, according to a news release from the Carol Stream Police Department.

David P. Smith, 42, of Darling Street in unincorporated DuPage County near Carol Stream, is charged with multiple possession of child pornography and dissemination of child pornography charges, the release said.

Smith was charged after the department initiated a one-month investigation into his residence after a detective became aware of possible criminal activity taking place there, according to the release.

Police developed probable cause to obtain a search warrant at Smith's home and the Carol Stream Police Department searched the residence with the assistance of detectives with the Bartlett Police Department and the DuPage County Sheriff's Office on Nov. 7, the release said. Computer equipment and evidence of child pornography, including material in which the children were younger than 13 years old, were seized.

Smith was processed and transported to the DuPage County Jail to await a bond hearing, according to the release.
