WESTMONT – The Westmont Community Unit School District 201 Board of Education recently re-applied for a State of Illinois School Maintenance Project Grant.

During a meeting Nov. 5, the board approved another cycle of submissions after being denied this past April ,according to Kim Anderson, District 201 business manager.

"We were originally denied," Anderson said. "Now there's additional funding in round two, so we're hoping to receive funds… It just depends on what other projects other district."

The district is asking for about $43,750 from the School Maintenance Grant, which will send schools 50 percent of a project's funds up to $50,000, according to Anderson. She said the district is looking at a $87,500 project replacing a slanted portion of the roof at South School, 133 S. Grant.

Once the applications are submitted, it's a waiting game to see if the district will be awarded the grant, according to board president Marie Charlton.

"I'm very happy about this," Charlton said. "It [takes] forever but it's a fantastic thing."
