Nazareth’s best-ever boys soccer postseason run ended just short of the state finals with a 2-1 overtime loss to Washington in a Class 2A super sectional Nov. 5. The Roadrunners finished the season 15-8-2 and won the first sectional title in school history. Washington went on to win the state title.
The Lions lost to top sectional seed Glenbard South in a sectional semifinal Nov. 5. LT raced out to an early lead by winning the opening game 25-17, but the Raiders rallied for a 17-25, 25-19, 25-23 victory. The Lions led 22-15 in the third game before falling. LT finished with a 22-16 record.
BOYS CROSS COUNTRY
The Lions were only fourth in the West Suburban Silver meet three weeks ago, but thankfully for them the Silver proved to be the best conference in the state.
LT took fourth at the Class 3A state meet at Detweiller Park in Peoria on Saturday, one of four Silver teams to finish in the top five.
Henry Hostettler (32nd) led the way for the Lions. Dan Lupano (48th), James Ryan (50th) and Ed McCarter (53rd) also scored well for the Lions. It was LT’s second state trophy in a row after placing third last year.
Salvatore Flight was 139th at the Class 3A state meet.
GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY
Lexy Rudofski capped off her career with a 23rd place finish at the Class 3A state meet at Detweiller Park in Peoria on Saturday. Junior Katie Hamor was 48th.
Junior Olivia Ryan was 22nd at the Class 3A state race. Senior Briana Daley placed 73rd.
Freshman Claire Ramsey placed 59th at the Class 2A state race at Detweiller Park in Peoria on Saturday.
