Letter: Park District thanks St. Petronille

Published: Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2013 1:54 p.m. CST

To the Editor:

On Oct. 7 and 8, the fifth through eight graders of St. Petronille School came to Churchill Park to help with ecological restoration and park improvement projects.

This is the fifth year of this great service endeavor. Students helped clear invasive trees, spread wood chips on the trails, remove weeds from the prairie, planted oak saplings and collect native plant seeds that will be used in other local natural areas. About 300 people – students, teachers and parents – contributed.

On behalf of the Glen Ellyn Park District, we truly appreciate the time and energy given toward these efforts.
