Family Shelter Services was recently awarded a $10,000 grant to provide resources to those affected by domestic abuse, according to a news release from the nonprofit.

The one-year grant is part of The Avon Foundation for Women's Speak Out Against Domestic Violence Program, which has provided more than $33 million for domestic and gender violence programs in the U.S. since its inception in 2004, the release said.

"We are proud that the Avon Foundation for Women shares our mission and has chosen to support our program," Family Shelter Service Executive Director Judie Caribeaux said in a statement. "With these funds, we will be able serve additional families in DuPage County who are struggling with the issue of domestic violence"
