Lemont finishes eighth at Wheaton Academy sectional, Campos advances to state

WEST CHICAGO – Competing at the Wheaton Academy Class 2A sectional on Saturday, the Lemont girls cross country squad narrowly missed on advancing to the IHSA state meet as a team.

The Indians finished in eighth-place but were just 16 points away from the top-five.

Sophomore Taylor Campos did qualify as an individual after finishing 19th in a time of 19:22.

Gabby Voltarel was 26th in 19:42, Claire Gagen finished 28th in 19:47 and Lindsey Mazur came in 44th in 20:32. Bridget Kunkel (59th), Kelly Fritz (63rd) and Cassidy Nyenhuis (73rd) also competed.
