LINCOLN, Neb. – Montini grad Jordan Westerkamp had the play of the week in college football.
The Nebraska redshirt freshman wide receiver was on the end of a game-winning Hail Mary catch in Saturday's 27-24 win over Northwestern.
With four seconds left in the game the Cornhuskers were on the Northwestern 49-yard-line and needed to find the end zone on the last play. Senior quarterback Ron Kellogg III launched the ball towards the goal line and it got tipped in a mass of players going for the ball. Westerkamp was all alone just behind the pile and made the catch to send Memorial Stadium into euphoria.
Westerkamp finished the game with four receptions for 104 yards and the touchdown. It was a career high for receptions and yards and his first career touchdown. On the season he has 14 catches for 194 yards.
