'Drumstick Dash' to take place Thanksgiving day at Fullersburg Woods

OAK BROOK – Fullersburg Woods in Oak Brook will be the site of this year's "Drumstick Dash" 5K run at 9 a.m. on Thanksgiving day.

Those who enter will have a chance to predict their race finish time. The runner whose time is closest to their prediction without going over will win a prize. Watches, phones and other timing devices will not be allowed anywhere on the course.

A portion of each race fee will go to Chicago Hope Academy, located in Chicago’s near west side. Participants who enter by Nov. 15 will be automatically entered into a drawing to receive a prize.

The race will take place rain or shine and runners are asked to be prepared with running shoes, Yaktrax, boots or hiking poles as needed. Gourmet treats will be provided by Standard Market.

Runners can also wear a favorite football jersey or bring one to donate. Jerseys will be collected for the Chicago Hope Academy boys' football team.

Cost is $35 per individual or $75 for a team (maximum of four people). On race day, cost is $40 per individual or $80 per team.

Packet pickup is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 27 at Endureit! Sports located at 20 W. 75th St., Willowbrook.

Race day registration and packet pickup is from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. at Fullersburg Woods.
