Carpanzano: Upcoming chamber events cater to business starters

An entrepreneur is someone who organizes and manages a business undertaking, assuming the risk for the sake of a profit. They see an opportunity and execute.

For example, they may notice a missing or underutilized product or service in a market and want to fulfill that need.

Entrepreneurs are the spirit of innovation in this country, and we at the Bolingbrook Area Chamber of Commerce embrace that spirit. We want to be a resource for businesses of all sizes. We are here to provide resources for our local entrepreneurs to succeed.

This year, we have organized a Resource Lunch ‘N Learn for those who are thinking about starting their own business. Moreover, for businesses that have hit a stumbling block, the resources provided at this Lunch ‘N Learn will be invaluable in taking that business to the next level.

The Bolingbrook Area Chamber of Commerce Resource Lunch ‘N Learn is being held at the Bolingbrook Community Center, 201-B Canterbury Lane, on Saturday, Nov. 23. The luncheon begins at 11:30 a.m. and advance registration is required to attend.

We will have professionals from banking, insurance, accounting, marketing and legal services. Registration for this luncheon and more details are available by contacting the chamber office.

On that same day, at the conclusion of the luncheon, we are hosting a Home Based Business Expo.

The expo will allow the greater Bolingbrook community to learn about the businesses that don’t have a brick and mortar building in town, but are still vital to commerce and the success of our local economy.

The Home Based Business Expo on Saturday, Nov. 23 is also being held at the Bolingbrook Community Center.

The expo will run from 1 to 4 p.m. and is free to attend. Refreshments will be served and no formal registration is required to attend; simply walk-in. If you are interested in exhibiting at the home-based business expo, please contact the chamber office.

We can be reached by phone at 630-226-8420 or via email at

Or, you can always stay up-to-date with our calendar of events on our website,

Michael Carpanzano is president and CEO of the Bolingbrook Area Chamber of Commerce.
