Westmont music store to restring instruments in exchange for food donations

WESTMONT – Uncle Jon's Music will host its fifth annual Restring for Food this weekend.

From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, residents can donate nonperishable foods in exchange for a fresh set of strings for a six-string acoustic or electric guitar. Staff at Uncle Jon's will install a new set of strings, tune and polish the instrument for at least three nonperishable items.

The music store, 33 N. Cass Ave., will send all donated food items to the People’s Resource Center. Any extra donations will be accepted and appreciated. There will be a limit of two instruments per household or person.

Participants who donate 10 or more items will receive a free T-shirt.

Strings for the event have been donated by the D’Addario Company. Basses, nylon string guitars, 12-string guitars and locking nut bridges will not be included in the event.
