Letter: Concealed carry won't fix any problems
To the Editor:
I may have a very unpopular opinion on this subject, as I know many people who are for this and are excited about its passing in the state of Illinois, but I do not understand why we have to be just like everyone else.
Granted we have the right to bear arms as stated in the Second Amendment, but with the problems we have in Chicago right now, is it really going to help? When are we going to start seeing headlines in the newspaper that not only read “Multiple children killed at night by drive-by gang shooting,” but also “Child killed accidentally by unattended gun?”
I would not have a problem with it if the city of Chicago didn't have the problems it has now.
Fix that first, because concealed carry isn't going to fix that problem at all, just make it worse, and let these shooting problems fall into our suburbs.
