DARIEN – A trio of DuPage County prosecutors who led the way in the trial of Johnny Borizov and Jacob Nodarse earlier this year will be honored by the Chicago Crime Commission on Nov. 6 in recognition of their professionalism, dedication and compassion in carrying out the duties of a career prosecutor.

Criminal Bureau Chief Joseph Ruggiero, Criminal Bureau Deputy Chief Bernard Murray and Assistant State’s Attorney Amanda Meindl will be presented the Mitch Mars Prosecutorial Excellence Award at the Commission’s Stars of Distinction 2013 awards dinner at the Palmer House in Chicago.

The award, which is named in honor of the late Assistant U.S. Attorney, is presented to individuals who have made significant contributions to crime fighting efforts.

Nodarse was convicted of killing three members of a Darien family in March 2010, and Borizov was convicted of orchestrating the murders.

The award ceremony will mark the 94th anniversary of the Chicago Crime Commission.
