The Forest Preserve District of DuPage County and REI in Oakbrook Terrace will hold a ranger-led Autumn Weekend Trip on Saturday and Sunday, according to a news release.

The overnight trip begins at 10 a.m. at the McDowell Grove Forest Preserve District in Naperville.

Participants will receive kayaking instructions followed by an afternoon of paddling to Blackwell Forest Preserve in Warrenville. They will then set up camp, learn tips for cooking with a cast iron skillet, make dinner and camp out under the stars.

The next morning the group will break camp and paddle for the remainder of the trip, which ends about 1 p.m., according to the release.

The cost is $50 per person and is open to ages 12 and older. Kayaking equipment is included and participants can use their own tents or borrow from a limited quantity.

For information or to register, call the district’s visitor services office at 630-933-7248.
