BOLINGBROOK – The village of Bolingbrook is recommending trick-or-treating take place in the community from 4 to 7 p.m. Halloween.

The village reminds parents to emphasize safety with their children on Halloween.

Parents should know what route their children and their friends will take and who will be supervising them.

The village also asks parents to be mindful of these tips:

• Parents should examine candy before allowing children to eat it.

• Make sure children’s costumes fit well and do not impair their vision.

• Give children a flashlight if they will be out after dusk.

• Teach children to use sidewalks.

• Leave a porch light on so children know it’s OK to visit your home.
