LEMONT – A cement mixer truck rolled over Tuesday afternoon, blocking traffic in Lemont.

The event occurred at about 4:45 p.m. on Derby Road, according to Lemont Police Chief Kevin Shaughnessy.

Two additional cars were involved in the incident.

The truck driver sustained minor injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital by the Lemont Fire Protection District, Shaughnessy said. The drivers of the other vehicles were not injured, although one of the cars was significantly damaged and required towing.

Portions of 131st Street, Archer Avenue and Derby Road were closed into the evening, according to Shaughnessy. The scene was cleared and all roadways were open by 7:30 p.m.

Shaughnessy said the cause of the rollover is being investigated by the Cook County Sheriff's Office, with the assistance of the Lemont Police Department.
