Addison police begin monthly community coffee events

ADDISON – The Addison Police Department launched a new program this week.

Coffee with a Cop will be a a monthly event that brings community members and police together in an informal, neutral space to discuss community issues, build relationships and drink coffee.

The goal is to have community members leave with a more positive impression of their police department.

Police believe the program will be successful because the coffee shop atmosphere removes the physical barriers and crisis situations that routinely define interactions between police and community members. Instead, it allows for relaxed, informal interactions in a friendly atmosphere.

The monthly event will be held at various coffee shops throughout Addison.

For the next Coffee with a Cop event, visit the Addison Police Department Facebook page or Twitter @AddisonPolice.
